DESCRIPTION OF THE PROCEDURE
Lip lift is considered a surgical procedure to raise the upper lip. This surgery reduces the space between the nose and upper lip. The result is lifted upper edge of the lips and increased rose pink part.
CANDIDATES FOR THE PROCEDURE
It is intended for people with too much space between the upper lip and the nose and for the people who want a fuller upper lip without fillers and want it to remain permanently.
During the process of ageing, the upper lip descends, space between the nose and lip increases, so lip lift is the only solution which can restore the natural position of lips. In some cases, injecting fillers is a possible solution for lip lift. However, when the space between the nose and the upper lip is too big, with filler injections the lip won’t lift, but it will only increase outward, which results with “duck” lips. Persons to whom fillers have caused “duck lips” are good candidates for lip lift.
PREPARATION FOR THE PROCEDURE
Before the lip lift, it is sufficient to get done standard blood examinations that include: complete blood count with erythrocyte sedimentation rate, coagulogram, urea and creatinine concentration, blood glucose levels and to record electrocardiogram (ECG). All these examinations can be done in our polyclinic too.
ADMISSION TO POLYCLINIC
Admission is on the day of surgery. The patient goes home on the same day.
ANAESTHESIA
Surgery is performed under local anaesthesia.
PROCEDURE
Skin incision is located directly under nostrils. In that way the scar remains hidden and eventually it becomes practically invisible. Surplus skin and excess adipose tissue are removed in order to reduce the distance between the nose base to the upper lip edge to a wanted length (12-15 mm). Depending on incision shape, related part of the lips, central and angles are lifted.
IMMEDIATE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD
After the procedure, placing cold compresses in order to reduce swelling, is recommended. Stitches are removed one week later. Recovery after the surgery takes about 10 days.
FINAL RESULT
Surgical lip lift not only rejuvenates appearance of the middle third of face, but it also allows formation and filling of the lips in a way that is not possible with fillers.
Aesthetically balanced face is achieved and lips look fuller and nicer. They are completely getting closer to the nose and due to that the face looks younger and fresher.
When the lips are raised with the lift procedure, they can be really successfully filled with fillers without the “duck” effect. Result of surgical lip lift is permanent.
