Chin correction can be an independent aesthetic procedure in cases where chin is insufficiently developed or is too long.

However, it can also be a subject of an aesthetic surgery together with the nose correction in order to achieve a well-balanced ratio between a nose and chin due to the best possible result.

CANDIDAES FOR THE PROCEDURE

Candidates for the chin corrections are the persons who are dissatisfied with their insufficiently or excessively exposed chin, as well as the persons who have a real need for additional chin correction together with nose reconstruction in order to balance their facial contours, especially the profile.

PREPARATION FOR THE PROCEDURE

Before the chin correction, it is sufficient to get done standard blood examinations with erythrocyte sedimentation rate, coagulogram, urea and creatinine concentration, blood glucose levels and to record electrocardiogram (ECG). All these examinations can be done in our polyclinic too.

ADMISSION TO POLYCLINIC

Admission to Polyclinic Arcadia is possible during the morning hours on the day of surgery, or the evening before the procedure if it suits you better. After situating you into your room, medical analysis, taking anamnestic data and final agreement are about to follow.

ANAESTHESIA

Simple chin corrections are usually performed under the local anaesthesia, but in some exceptional cases general anaesthesia can be used.

PROCEDURE

Insufficiently developed chin can be corrected with fillers, through transfer of your own adipose tissue, or by using the implants. The best possible procedure for you is going to be estimated by our plastic surgeon during the process of consultations. Excessively exposed chin also ruins facial balance. The reason for this could be exposure of soft tissue, or too long mandibular bone. In case of excessive amount of soft tissue, the problem is solved through its reduction, while the section is performed through the epithelia of the lower lip, so that there are no visible scars from the outside. With mildly exposed bone structures, through the same section bone grinding can be performed. All the named procedures are considered as simple surgery procedures and they are performed under the local anaesthesia where the recovery is fast.

It should be noted here that with strongly exposed chin deformities there is always need to shorten or extend bone structures, which requires more complex surgery procedures with the reconstruction of the lower jaw that are performed under general anaesthesia. Such surgical procedures are not performed at the Polyclinic Arcadia. In such cases it is necessary to turn to doctors who are specialists for maxillofacial surgery.

IMMEDIATE POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD

Elastic bandage is placed after the surgery which you are required to wear continuously for one week and one more week only during night. Due to the fact that the surgery is performed under the local anaesthesia, two hours after the surgery completion, you are allowed to leave the polyclinic.

FINAL RESULT

Immediately after the surgery, the result is already visible, but the same as with other surgeries, swellings and hematomas are present to a certain extent, but they disappear within ten days. For the final result, it is necessary to hold on for the next three months.
